The Challenge

Monash University aimed to launch the Healthy Brain Project, a community-based initiative to understand optimal brain health and aging. The challenge was to create a scalable system to track and collect data from approximately 4,000 participants, who would be monitored over a period of years. The system needed to:

  • Provide flexibility for participants to take tests and surveys at their convenience.
  • Integrate with external systems like Cogstate and CanTab for memory testing.
  • Ensure ongoing engagement through notifications and reminders.

Solutions

  • Developed a cloud-based platform where participants can register and complete memory tests and surveys online.
  • The system is configurable year over year, adapting to the evolving needs of the project.
  • Built an alert system that notifies participants when they have missed completing tests or surveys, ensuring consistent participation throughout the study period.
  • Integrated memory tests with Cogstate and CanTab via APIs, enabling seamless data collection from external systems.
  • Built on ASP.Net Core 2.0, C#, Identity Framework 4.0, and MS Azure SQL Server for robust, scalable performance.

Key Outcomes
